Tomorrow's Internet today

onShore´s MDN is built on the most scalable, robust networking technology in existence: switched Ethernet delivering 100Mb (70 times faster than the DSL circuits provided by most BLECs, and without the bottlenecks) that can easily be expanded to 1 Gb. Intra-building speed far exceeds any existing data service delivery requirements, and technologies such as web caching make popular Internet sites blaze. In short, an MDN is built to last in an environment where technologies typically have short lifespans.

MDNs differ from "high-tech" BLEC access in the following ways:
· MDNs allow for the delivery of services unheard of on most BLEC plans, including: file storage, quick automated tape backup of critical systems, IP telephony, and rich streamed video and other media content that is virtually undeliverable over the narrow bandwidth of DSL, Cable, T1s and shared broadband.
· Modern fiber BLECs can´t aggregate such high-bandwidth services, even over Gb fiber. onShore´s MDN manages servers from within the building, right on the fully-switched backplane, allowing vendors to offer services that require quick access such as firewalls.
· New services are deployed by MDN Systems Integrators whose core competency is data–not telco carriers "cashing in" on the Internet by offering thin, shared connections with only a fraction of the bandwidth needed to take advantage of emerging technologies such as Voice-over-IP and Video-on-Demand.
· The local availability of MDN services greatly reduces bandwidth costs to the public Internet, making possible services that simply cannot be handled upstream.
