A multi-tenant structure´s bandwidth and data service is typically at the mercy of disconnected providers—stranded without the ability to interface with external networks. An MDN´s unified infrastructure and standard interface, on the other hand, allows a building to easily offer tenants a broad portal to community networks, including emerging municipal networks.
As cities such as Chicago make the investment to deploy high-bandwidth, city-wide data networks, buildings equipped with MDNs will have the first opportunity to join the municipal network and tap into data resources provided not only by the city, but other networked buildings and communities as well.
MDNs attached to municipal networks will give tenants access to:
· Municipal data utilities and civic services
· Utility service monitoring
· Metro area-wide security services
· Corporate, Government and Education partnerships and programs
· Telecommuting and remote data centers
