This guide is intended to help configure a fully operational PC running Windows 2000 with a properly installed network interface card (NIC).
Examples use the following specifications from onShore:
IP Address Range: 10.222.123.2 – 10.222.123.254
IP Address Gateway: 10.222.123.1
IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
For those subscribing to Static IP address service:
IP External: 66.146.192.125
IP Internal: 10.222.123.5

Go to Start | Settings | Network and Dial-Up Connections. Right Click your Local Area Connection and select Properties.

Step 1: In Local Area Connection Properties: If you do not see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Install. If you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), skip to step 4.

Step 2: Select Protocol and click Add
|

Step 3: Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click OK.

Step 4: In Local Area Connection Properties: Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

Step 5: Clink on Obtain an IP address automatically. Click on Obtain DNS server address automatically.

For static IP configuration (assign computer address within default range):
Click on Use the following IP address.
For IP address, enter your IP address. In this example: 10.222.123.5
For Subnet mask, enter 255.255.255.0
For Default gateway, enter your gateway. In this example: 10.222.123.1
Click on Use the following DNS server addresses.
Enter the addresses found in your specifications, In this example:
For Preferred DNS server: 66.146.193.3
For Secondary DNS server: 66.146.194.10
Click OK to exit Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties.
Click OK to exit Local Area Connection Properties.
You should now be able to open your browser and access the Internet.
