If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing Outlook 98 and 2000 account, do the following: |
1. Open Outlook. |
2. Select Accounts (or Services in Outlook 98) from the Tools menu. |

3. Click the Mail tab (or go to Email Service tab in Outlook 98). |
 |
4. Select your email account and click the Properties button. |
5. Click the Servers tab. |
 |
6. On the Servers tab, select My server requires authentication. |
7. Click the Advanced tab. |
8. Enter "993" in the Incoming IMAP port. (i.e. replace "143" with "993") |
 |
9. Enter "445" in the Outgoing SMTP port. (i.e. replace "25" with "465") |
 |
10. Click Apply. |

If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing Outlook 2002 (XP) account, do the following: |
1. Open Outlook. |
2. Select E-mail Accounts from the Tools menu. |
3. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts. |
 |
4. Click Next. |
5. Select your email account and click the Change button. |
 |
6. Click the More Settings button. |
 |
7. Click the Outgoing Server tab. |
 |
8. Place a check in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. |
9. Select Log on using and enter the username in the Account ID field and your password into the Password field. |
10. Click OK, and then click the Next button. |
11. Click Finish. |
12. Go to the File menu and select Exit. The next time you start Outlook the new settings will take effect. |

If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing Outlook Express 5 or 6 account, do the following: |
1. Open Outlook Express. |
2. Select Accounts from the Tools menu. |

3. Click the Mail tab or go to the Email Service tab for Outlook 98. |

4. Select Accounts and click the Properties button. |
 |
5. Click the Servers tab and check My server requires authentication. |
 |
6. Click the Advanced tab. |
7. Enter "465" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port. (i.e. replace "25" with "465") |

If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing OS X Mail account, do the following: |
1. Open OS X Mail. |
2. Select Preferences from the Mail menu. |
 |
3. Select your account from the left pane of the window and click Server Settings. |
 |
4. Select Add server from the Outgoing Mail Server menu |
 |
5. In the SMTP Server Options dialog window, type smtp in the Outgoing Mail Server field. |
 |
6. Select password from the Authentication menu. |
 |
7. Enter your username in the User Name field. |
8. Type your password into the Password field. |
9. Click OK. |

If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing Netscape Mail 6.x or 7.x account, do the following: |
1. Open Netscape. |
2. Click Mail from the Task menu. |
3. Under the Edit menu, click Mail & News Account Settings (in NS 6.X) or Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. (in NS 7.x) |

4. In the left pane of the Account Settings window, select Outgoing Server (SMTP). |
 |
5. In the Server Name field, type in smtp. |
 |
6. Select User name and password. Enter your user name in the User Name field. |
 |
7. Click OK. |
Note: You will be prompted for your password when sending a message. Enter your email password in the dialog box. To have Netscape save your password, Select Use Password Manager to remember this password option when prompted for your password. |

If you're configuring SMTP Authentication for an existing Thunderbird 1.0 account, do the following: |
1. Open Thunderbird. |
2. Click Tools in the Tasks menu. |
3. In the Account Settings menu, click Outgoing Mail Server. |
 |
4. In the right pane of the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) settings window, change Port to 465. The default port is 25. |
