Some elements which define a modern Operating System include: Protected Memory, Preemptive Multi-tasking, Advanced Memory Management and Symmetric Multiprocessing.
Apple also developed high-end graphics capabilities, as native components to OS X, by including Quartz, Open GL and QuickTime.
Apple offers Mail, QuickTime Player and iTools as built in applications to Mac OS X. Apple has recently provided iPhoto, a tool for managing the digital photo library.
onShore is committed to the new OS from Apple. We have been working and evaluating the new OS since it became available. onShore has deployed Mac OS X server solutions for many of our clients. We are very excited about the possibilities of this new technology and the direction of Apple Computer. As more and more applications are made available for Mac OS X, the next step would be evaluating those applications and beginning the transition of our graphic design client workstations to Mac OS X.
